EECC at the 2025 Critical Care Congress

EECC Global founder Karima Khalid spoke about Essential Emergency and Critical Care (EECC) at the 2025 Critical Care Congress in in Orlando, Florida this week.

The annual conference hosted by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is a major event where critical care professionals gather to share research, learn about new advancements in the field, and network with colleagues. It’s one of the few large-scale conference focused on the latest developments in essential and intensive care medicine.

  • Event Focus: Critical care medicine, including new treatments, technologies, and patient care practices

  • Event Format: Presentations, workshops, poster sessions, and networking opportunities

  • Who attends: Critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in intensive care

Her presentation makes for a compelling overview of EECC, covering:

  • the case for EECC;

  • what it means to be ‘critically ill’;

  • the large unmet need of care for critically ill

  • how Essential Emergency and Critical Care addresses that need

  • her work in Tanzania to implement EECC
